“… Phone Whore is the kind of wondrous theatre work which forces you to face not just your own limits, but also what the limits are for text, performance and – let me say it – theatre itself. … Go.” (Charlebois Post)

A slice-of-life comedy/drama, Phone Whore won the award for Best Female Solo show at the 2010 San Francisco Fringe Festival, Pick of the Fringe – Drama at the 2011 Victoria Fringe Festival, and was an official selection of the 2012 Zoofest Festival in Montréal. The play invites audiences in for an unflinching look at taboo, fantasy, and the place of “deviant” desires in society today. Playwright and performer Cameryn Moore draws extensively on her work experiences at a no-taboo service to flesh out both the absurdities and difficult truths that pervade the world of phone sex.

Cameryn is an artist, activist, educator, and yes, a phone sex operator. She has done phone work for over four years, writing and rehearsing between calls and even taking calls while on tour. In addition to awards for Phone Whore, Cameryn received a Best of Fest award at the 2011 Winnipeg Fringe Festival for her second show, slut (r)evolution. Her third solo show, for | play, was nominated for a Centaur Best Production award at the 2012 St. Ambroise Montréal Fringe Festival.

Phone Whore and Cameryn’s 2013 world tour are fiscally sponsored projects of the International Sex Workers Foundation for Arts, Culture, and Education, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization. Tour details, show updates, and some very dirty, thoughtful blog posts can be found online at camerynmoore.com.
