I’ve been a member of SEX+STL for about a year and 1/2 now.
I call it Sex Education for adults (which in my opinion is sorely needed these days) and I’m especially impressed with their ongoing fight to promote healthy body image.
I’ll never forget my first clothing optional party – mostly because I was so scared to death!
I had only been to a couple of the workshops and I only knew a handful of people, but nonetheless found myself signing up to go out of curiosity.
On the day of the event, I left work at 5:00 pm, but the party didn’t start until 8:00 pm. It was only three miles away. I stopped at the store to pick up a beverage and found myself sitting in my car in the parking lot asking myself if I was crazy! I had no idea what a clothing optional party entailed. I was about to go to a perfect strangers house, alone, where I wasn’t sure if I would know anyone, to take my clothes off! I thought about just going home at least half a dozen times. That was the longest three hours of my life!
I can’t tell you how glad I am that I went!
I found the atmosphere to be much more mature, friendly, and inviting than I could have imagined. There was no staring, no groping, no lewd language, none of the things I realized I had been so worried about.
In fact, as the party progressed, I completely forgot that there were partially nude and completely nude people milling around! I realized that I actually felt very comfortable and was having a great time getting to know some of the other members.
Now I’m a SEX+STL junkie and rarely miss a workshop or event. I feel like I’ve found a home because this group truly does celebrate the uniqueness in all of us and welcomes every lifestyle with open arms (I myself am polyamorous).
I’m very grateful to have found such wonderful people and thankful to the Co-Founders who were, in my opinion, smart enough to see the need and brave enough to follow through on making this group a reality.
