This Friday, June 10th, is the first ever Black and Lou Pride Ball. Our good friend DJ Kaiser is on the event committee and he gave us the low down. Be on the lookout this Thursday for my full length interview with DJ, the current Mr. Missouri Leather, on his impressive 9th place finish at the International Mr. Leather Competition in Chicago.
David Wraith: Tell us about the Black and Lou Pride Ball.
DJ Kaiser: It will be held at JJ’s Clubhouse on Friday, June 10th from 9 PM till 2 AM. The $5 admission will benefit Pride St. Louis. People are encouraged to wear their favorite leather, gear, or fantasy wear. In celebration of the diversity in the St. Louis community, the Black and Lou Pride Ball will feature the Mr./Ms. St. Louis Black and Lou Competition. This contest is open to everyone (but dress to impress!) The winner(s) will ride on St. Louis PrideFest Parade float. This event will also feature a special exhibit from The Leather Archives & Museum presented by Gateway MC. Street legal attire is required at all times. We’ll have people doing erotic performances during the night: pole dancing, hot wax, rope, and whatever else we can get going. It should be a fun night!!
The real brains behind this event is Terry Laupp, Mr. Missouri Leather 2010. I had the honor of being sashed by him when I won my title. Terry has transformed the Leather community in St. Louis. Just because his title year ended doesn’t mean he’s stepped down at all. I see him as being even more involved now. I think that the Black and Lou Pride Ball will mark a new beginning for the St. Louis Leather community! I hope to see lots of people there.
JJ’s Clubhouse and Bar is located at 3858 Market St (at Vandeventer) , Saint Louis, MO 63110-1214
I have a non-sexual crush on DJ, he is so awesome. Can’t wait to see his talk on Jun 12 3pm Shameless Grounds. Thanks for leading, Johnny! And can’t wait for more on DJ, David.
